Behind the Moon: Meet the Artist

Hi, I’m Tanya Smith-artist, photographer, and the creator behind Sweet Ruby Moon.

I’ve been creating art in one form or another for over 30 years, with the real passion starting in high school when a teacher showed me that the process mattered more than the outcome.

But when life got busy with motherhood, running a full time photography business, and all the things, painting and creating got pushed aside.

After some big life changes, I found myself slowing coming back to my creative roots. I started painting again. Slowly, quietly. No big plan. Just the pull to create. It felt grounding in a way I hadn’t realized I’d missed.

Now, Sweet Ruby Moon is where everything comes together: mixed media, layers of texture, color and instinct.

Each original piece is created to help you add character and soul to your space. Whether it ends up hanging on a wall, tucked into a cozy shelf, or layered into a corner nook beside your plants and books. These aren’t just decorations; they’re little moments of creative energy made to be seen and felt.

I don’t believe art needs to be overly deep or complicated to matter. I just hope these pieces make you to take a second glance- to pause, even for a moment, and enjoy a bit of beauty.
